Christopher O’Brien, Executive Director
Christopher hails from Waialua on the North Shore of Oʻahu and originally moved to Molokai in 2013 to raise his children on their family’s Hawaiian homestead. His educational foundation is well-rounded, including a Bachelor of Arts in both English and Political Science (BAs), a doctor of law degree (JD), and a Master’s in Accounting (MAcc); he is also an Executive MBA-candidate (MBA). This diverse educational background has equipped him with comprehensive skills in legal analysis, financial management, and strategic organizational development. In his professional career, Christopher has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a Director of Finance and Development, accountant, financial and compliance manager, and business consultant for various nonprofits and businesses on Molokai. During his five years at Sustainable Molokai, Christopher helped to advance programs related to Energy, Food Security, Climate Change, and Natural Resource management and preservation—raising and managing millions of dollars in federal, other government, and private foundation funds. He is also one of the founders and former board member of Hoʻāhu, and is excited to dedicate his full time to this Cooperative that has been his passion project on the side for the last four years.
Liliana Napoleon, Project Coordinator II
Liliana has an educational background of a dual associate from University of Hawaii Maui College, a bachelors in Business Administration and a master’s in Business Administration from Western Governors University. Lily has provided countless community service hours to Molokai through agencies such as Liliʻuokalani Trust, American Cancer Society, Hawaiʻi Tobacco Coalition, Molokai Cancer Fund, and Americorp. Her employment background consists of numerous coordinator roles in both the healthcare and education sectors. At Hoʻāhu, Liliana oversees our workforce development and training programs. She values the collective work to lead Molokai to a promising energy future.
Leimana Ritte-Camara, Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator
Mai Ke Awāwa uliuli o Hālawa kahi a ka wahine Moʻoʻula a i ka māloʻo ʻula o Kaluakoʻi kahi a nā pōhaku hūnā aloha pumehana kākou. Leimana Ritte-Camara was born and raised on the island of Molokaʻi Nui A Hina. She is a graduate of Molokai’s Hawaiian Language Immersion schools and is honored to raise her family on this precious island that she loves. She has worked and continues to work as a Hawaiian language and cultural educator on Molokai. She also has a Bachelors in Psychology from UH Hilo. At Hoʻāhu, Leimana oversees our marketing, communications and community outreach and engagement, she also represents Hoʻāhu with various energy planning groups and programs.
Kaʻohele Ritte-Camara, Kupu Intern
Kaʻohele, like his sister Leimana, was born and raised on the island of Molokai, and deeply values his family, friends, and culture. After graduating from ʻO Hina I Ka Malama at Molokai High School, he obtained a Bachelors in Hawaiian Language and Hawaiian Studies at UH Mānoa. At Hoʻāhu, Kaʻohele assists with our workforce development and microgrid programs.
